So you're on vacation for a week and need something to do? That was me. For our family a vacation is mostly time to relax and enjoy doing almost nothing. Yeah, we'll visit some sights but we consider it a good day to sleep in, take a nap and a swim and stay up late watching movies. My husband can't be gone for more than a day without checking his email so he always takes his laptop which has a wireless internet connection card (or whatever they are called). It came in handy for me, I browsed the web looking for another baby blanket pattern (cuz all of a sudden my husband thought of someone he could give it to) and found one on the Bernat Yarn site. So it was off to Wal-Mart's (shopping choices around us in WI were very limited) to pick up the right size hook and the yarn. So this is what I did all week on vacation and the drive home.

What's next ??
So where do you go after a simple single crochet only purse? Why to this baby blanket of course. I didn't need a baby blanket nor know anyone that did but it seemed like a good place to start. It sure taught me a lot about reading patterns, not to mentition more stitches than just the single. I just kept crocheting until I ran out of yarn and then decided that I'd had enough of the pattern and didn't know what to do with it anyway. So my then 4 year old daughter got it for her "babies". So that about used up all of the driving time to vacation (Ohio to Wisconsin) so what to do with the rest of the week? You'll see next!
Spider Pattern I tested
My first crochet project
Learning to crochet was one of those life altering decisions for me. My grandmother was very crafty and taught me to hand quilt and cross stitch. I always said I would have her teach me to crochet but I never did. So when she passed away I vowed that I was going to teach myself. This bag took me forever!! I bought this kit on clearance in the craft department and of course the instructions were awful. So I started searching the web for better instructions and videos. Luckily I found some or I never would have learned to crochet. I'm one of those "gotta see it" people as I "just don't get it" by using the written instructions. I gave up learning left handed though - since most of the instructions were right handed I just went with it. Much easier than trying to reverse everything. I gave this bag to my daughter and her CD player fits in it perfectly.
Welcome!!
Welcome to my new blog! This is my first attempt and I'm just learning my way around. So hopefully I'll figure everything out and nothing will be too messed up :) I've got my crochet photo album linked here and will write some posts about the projects later. But for now, back to work trying to fix this site up.
